Mount Gede Pangrango Frozen and Snowy, Temperature Reaches 0 Degrees
KIDNEWS.ID -- Halo Kids... Mount Gede Pangrango froze at the peak of summer in July 2024. The Mount Gede Pangrango National Park Office recorded temperatures reaching 0 degrees Celsius.
The Suryakancana square area froze due to the sharp drop in air temperature, especially in the morning. Climbers must be careful and wear standard equipment to avoid experiencing hypothermia.
Public Relations of the Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park (BBTNGGP) Deni said that the air temperature had decreased in the last few days. In fact, the same thing can be felt in the Cibodas and Gunung Putri climbing entrance areas.

"The temperature in the Suryakancana Square area was reported to have reached 0 degrees in the morning, the temperature dropped colder than usual, to be sure we are still waiting for the officer's report," he said in Cianjur, Thursday (18/7/2024).
As the temperature decreases, his party asks climbers to be extra careful in carrying out climbing activities, obey the applicable rules and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and comply with the recommendations of officers at the climbing entrance. Every climber is asked to prepare themselves carefully, including ensuring that their physical health, technical and equipment requirements are in accordance with safety standards to avoid hypothermia due to cold temperatures.
"We have also placed officers along the climbing route up to Suryakancana Square, to ensure the climb can still be carried out and urge climbers to use equipment, especially clothing that can keep the body warm," he said.

Meanwhile, the freezing of the Surakancana Square area in Mount Gede was shared by a number of climbers on their social media accounts. One of them is a climber from Bogor, Muhammad Fikri.
In his social media account, Fikri shared the temperature conditions on Mount Gede. He said that in the morning and at night the tent he was staying in was covered in ice.
Even in the morning, he said, the grass in the area was filled with frozen dew due to the drastic drop in air temperature. Meanwhile, at night the temperature was colder, so he and a number of his colleagues were forced to wear double jackets.
"Usually it's not this cold, at night it's colder, in the morning the tent was covered in ice, including on the grass, the ice only melted before noon," he said.
